Kalysta – Soulful Storyteller, Timeless Voice

With a story to tell and a voice that captivates, Kalysta is a vocalist and songwriter whose music seamlessly blends classic soul, jazz, and contemporary R&B. Hailing from just outside Detroit, Michigan, she was raised on the legendary sounds of Motown, the Big Band era, and modern soul, shaping a style that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly original.

Kalysta’s journey began at the tender age of six, when she first discovered her passion for music. Classically trained in piano and nurtured in numerous choirs, she found inspiration in the powerhouse vocalists who came before her—Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse—artists who, like her, weave raw emotion into every note. Her signature sound is a tapestry of rich storytelling, timeless melodies, and an undeniable vocal presence that lingers long after the music fades.

Her talent has not gone unnoticed. Kalysta earned Best Jazz Vocalist awards at the Great Lakes Bay Region Review Music Awards 2020-2022. Her music has been showcased on college radio from Michigan to California.

She is currently creating an album working alongside Andrew Dost (band “fun.”), that promises to be as powerful as it is personal—bridging the golden age of soul with a modern perspective.
